Cerec 3D Restorations in Rogers AR
First, we will examine your tooth and determine the appropriate treatment. It could be a simple filling, or a full crown, depending on how much healthy tooth structure is remaining. Next, we will numb the area and prepare your tooth for the restoration by removing decayed and weakened tooth tissue. After we prepare the tooth, we will then take an Optical Impression of the tooth. Instead of filling a tray with impression “goop” that you must bite into and hold in your mouth until it hardens, we will coat the tooth with a non-toxic, tasteless powder. A camera is then used to take a digital picture of your tooth.
What You Need To Know
The whole Optical Impression process will only take a minute or two. Next, we will use the CEREC machine to help create the restoration for your tooth. The CEREC 3D software takes the digital picture and converts it into a 3-dimensional virtual model on the computer screen. We will then design the restoration using the CEREC 3D computer program.
Within a few minutes and a few clicks of a button, the restoration design data is sent to a separate milling machine in the office. A ceramic block that matches your tooth shade is placed in the milling machine. About 10 – 20 minutes later, your all-ceramic, tooth-colored restoration is finished and ready to bond in place. Finally, we will try the restoration in your mouth to ensure proper fit and bite. The restoration will then be polished and bonded to the prepared tooth. After the process is complete, your tooth is restored with no “temporary” or return trip necessary.
We know your time is important. We hope the addition of the CEREC 3D system, will help add some of that precious time back to your hectic schedule. Frequently Asked Questions about Cerec 3D Restorations
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”row_faq”]
What is CEREC?
CEREC is a high-tech instrument that helps the dentist restore damaged teeth. CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics.
How Does CEREC Work?
First, we prepare the damaged tooth by painting a thin layer of reflective powder directly on the tooth’s surface. Using a special camera, we then take a picture of the tooth. No need to take a messy impression and send it to the lab. We work from this photo, which is actually a pin-sharp optical impression of the tooth. Computer-aided design technology helps us design the restoration from the optical impression. The design is done chairside on a color monitor. Patients can watch us design the new restoration right in front of their eyes! Then computer-aided manufacturing creates the restoration while the patient waits. The tooth is milled out of diamond bur and a disk simultaneously to mill a precise restoration. The milling takes about 10 minutes. Finally, we bond the newly milled restoration to the tooth using an adhesive.
What are the Advantages of CEREC?
We perform the restoration in a single session, usually in less than one hour. No need for us to make an impression and send it to a lab. No return visits for the patient. The restoration is natural-looking. This is because it’s a tooth-colored ceramic material.
Ceramic material is biocompatible, high-grade, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. No silver-colored fillings. It allows the dentist to save more of the healthy tooth. Extremely precise.
Is This a New Technology?
No. CEREC has over a decade of clinical research and experience to support the technology. The manufacturer of CEREC has relied on user input and research to improve the product over this time. Over four million restorations have been performed worldwide.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jtwgy57CFeo” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
